Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series

Buddy brilliant from Kofoid in Motorplex masterclass

It was an all-American trifecta in the Burson Auto Parts Boxing Day Bonanza at the Perth Motorplex on Friday night.

Buddy Kofoid won the 30-lap non-stop feature race from Corey Day and Cole Macedo in an epic event that celebrated round 6 of the 2025-26 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series.

Driving the Toyota-powered machine, Kofoid started from pole and held the lead for the full duration.

He started the show in the best possible fashion, powering the Pigdon Racing Team U7 to set the Victory 1 Performance Quick Time, with a best lap of 13.409 seconds in qualifying session four.

Kofoid then took a third in his heat race before claiming the Revolution Racegear A Dash, setting up the front-row start with Kerry Madsen in the Diamond Bay Motorsport W26.

Day was the biggest charger in the finale, starting from p28 and closing the gap in the latter stages.

Driving the Williamson Motorsport U3, Day was second to Kofoid in that same qualifying session before taking a heat race win.

Due to changing top wings and not running the required series sponsor decals, Day was stripped of his points and had to start from P12 in the B Main where he languished and did not automatically qualify.

He was given a lifeline as the promoters’ choice, starting from last in the main event.

Macedo, driving the HighLine Motorsport U40, owned by Daryl Clayden, was fourth quickest in his qualifying group, then took second in his heat race, as well as second in the Revolution Racegear B Dash, gaining a p4 start for the 30-laps.

Kofoid set a frantic pace at the front of the pack and with a handful of laps in the books, he had put a sizeable gap on Madsen as he caught the tail of the field.

Madsen held second until about lap 12, then he dropped back to ultimately finish ninth.

Series points leader Dayne Kingshott, who started from p6, got as high as third before losing that spot late, settling for fourth.

Tasmanian Jock Goodyer started third and finished fifth, while national champion James McFadden was sixth after starting from p13 – a solid haul given how heavy the lapped traffic was.

Andrew Priolo was the second best placed local driver in the final, starting from p16 and moving up nine spots to take seventh.

American Carson Macedo, in the J&S Drilling U60, started fifth and finished eighth, ahead of Madsen and another American, Brock Zearfoss, who started eighth and rounded out the top 10.

Kaiden Manders, who won the two previous rounds of the series, was 11th (from p7), from Daniel Harding 12th (from p9), American Aaron Reutzel in 13th (from p21), Taylor Milling 14th (from p12) and Callum Williamson 15th (from p24).

Heat winners were Queenslander Luke Oldfield, Carson Macedo, Harding and Day.

McFadden won the BR Motorsports/King Racing Products Midpack Madness from Cameron McKenzie and Brad Maiolo.

Round 7 of the series at the Perth Motorplex on Sunday, December 28, steps up a whole new level, being the first of the three-night High Limit International: Perth showdown.

A massive 43-car field will be part of the three nights that will culminate with the winner of the Tuesday night feature race winning $110,000.

Current NASCAR champion Kyle Larson and former World of Outlaws/High Limit series champion Brad Sweet will both arrive in WA in time to contest these nights.
